Description

Smoky, spicy, and quick to make, Chipotle Spiced Shrimp is the perfect way to bring bold flavor to your family table. Inspired by Greek and Polish traditions in our NYC kitchen, this dish is easy, versatile, and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb medium or large shrimp, peeled and deveined (wild-caught preferred)
  • 1 tsp chipotle powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 12 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, toss shrimp with chipotle powder, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Add olive oil and toss again to coat.
  4. Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add shrimp in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).
  6. Cook shrimp about 2 minutes on one side, then flip and cook 1–2 minutes more, until pink and slightly charred.
  7. Remove from heat immediately to prevent overcooking.
  8. Squeeze fresh lime juice over hot shrimp before serving.

Notes

• For extra flavor, let shrimp marinate in the spice blend (with olive oil) for up to 2 hours in the fridge. • Use thawed frozen shrimp if needed; just pat them dry well before seasoning. • Serve as tacos, rice bowls, salads, or appetizers—versatile and delicious! • For meal prep, cook shrimp up to a day ahead and refrigerate; enjoy cold or reheat gently in a skillet. • Leftovers are best enjoyed within 2 days; cooked shrimp do not freeze well. • Make it your own: add ancho chili powder for more smokiness or a pinch of brown sugar for sweetness. • Swap shrimp for chicken, tofu, or cauliflower for a creative twist.
