Description

Frankenstein Rice Krispie Treats are spooky, sweet, and no-bake—perfect for Halloween! These gooey green squares, decorated with frosting hair, candy eyes, and pretzel bolts, are monstrously fun to make and eat.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 bag (10 oz) mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • Green food coloring
  • Chocolate frosting or melted chocolate (for hair)
  • Candy eyes
  • Pretzel sticks (for bolts)
  • Optional: licorice strings or black gel icing (for scars and mouths)
  • Optional: fruity marshmallows or chocolate-flavored Rice Krispies for flavor twist

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat.
  2. Add marshmallows and stir until melted and smooth.
  3. Add green food coloring and mix until evenly tinted.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in Rice Krispies cereal until fully coated.
  5. Press mixture into a greased 9×13-inch pan and smooth the top. Let cool for 30 minutes.
  6. Cut into rectangles once cooled.
  7. Spread chocolate frosting on the top edge of each treat to create Frankenstein’s “hair.”
  8. Add candy eyes just below the frosting.
  9. Press pretzel sticks into the sides for bolts.
  10. Use gel icing or licorice for scars and mouths. Decorate each one with your own spooky flair!

Notes

To keep treats soft, don’t press the mixture too firmly into the pan. Store in an airtight container at room temperature with wax paper between layers. Use fruity marshmallows or chocolate Rice Krispies for fun flavor twists, but adjust coloring to maintain that signature green.
