- 1 package (14 oz) chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos), crushed
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 1 package (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened (optional)
- ½ cup powdered sugar (if using cream cheese)
- Gummy worms
- Candy pumpkins or candy corn
- Sprinkles (optional)
- Milano cookies or graham cookies (for tombstones)
- Black decorating gel or edible marker
Instructions
- Crush the cookies in a food processor or in a zip-top bag using a rolling pin. Set aside half for topping.
- Whisk together the milk and pudding mix until thick, about 2 minutes.
- Fold in whipped topping until smooth and fluffy.
- (Optional) Beat cream cheese with powdered sugar and fold into the pudding mix for a richer version.
- Layer cookie crumbs into clear plastic cups or jars, followed by pudding mixture. Repeat until nearly full.
- Top with remaining cookie crumbs.
- Decorate with cookie tombstones (write on them with gel), gummy worms, candy pumpkins, and sprinkles.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
To keep the top layer crunchy, sprinkle the final cookie crumbs just before serving. Use dairy-free pudding and whipped topping if making a non-dairy version.
