About Me

Hello! I’m Imma—short for Dimitra, but everyone just calls me Imma. I’m a half-Greek, half-American food lover with a kitchen full of memories and a heart that’s always simmering with new ideas. I live in a bustling neighborhood of New York City with my husband Marek, our curious and ever-hungry daughter Emily, and my mother, Elizabeth, who taught me that food is both heritage and poetry.

Some of my earliest memories are in the hills of Kalymnos, Greece, where my Yiayia would let me roll out filo dough under the warm sun. The scent of lemon, oregano, and baking bread still drifts through my mind like a lullaby. Summers were spent dancing between languages and flavors—one foot in Greece, one in the States—learning to appreciate how a dish tells the story of a place, a people, and a moment in time.

Here in New York, our kitchen is a mosaic of those stories. Marek, who’s originally from Poland, brings his own traditions to the table, so you’ll often find pierogi sizzling next to spanakopita, or baklava sharing space with apple pie. Our daughter Emily is already a little chef in the making, proudly wielding a whisk while her stuffed animals look on as her audience. And my mother Elizabeth? She’s the soul of our kitchen, always ready with a family story or a pinch of wisdom, reminding me that food is love made visible.

I cook not just to feed, but to connect. I believe that a great meal can disarm even the busiest New Yorker and that simple ingredients can become something magical with a little care. I’ve had my share of flops (a tragically burned moussaka comes to mind), but every misstep teaches me something new. For me, there’s joy in imperfection and beauty in a well-worn recipe card.

Whether I’m layering a lasagna or perfecting a lemon-oregano roast chicken, I do it with gratitude—for the cultures that shaped me, the family that grounds me, and the community of passionate food lovers like you who keep inspiring me to stir, taste, and share. Welcome to my kitchen. Let’s cook something beautiful together.
